Plot[]
Sana Kurata wakes up late for school, rushing to get ready. She is a sixth grader at Jinbou Elementary, and the star of a variety show known as Kodocha no Omecha. Her mother is a famous writer and winner of the Aoki award, and her agent Rei, whom she considers to be her boyfriend, lives with them and helps her at home.
Her class is a mess because of a troublemaker named Akito Hayama. When she tries to defend her teacher, he ignores her due to him possessing something incriminating the teachers, preventing them from taking action. This makes Sana very angry, and out of frustration, Sana complains about Akito on her TV show with Zenjiro. The next day at school, she is confronted by the boys for her actions. While getting ready to "fight them off", Akito shows up and tells the boys to leave her alone, leaving Sana wondering why he'd do that after what she said about him on TV. Afterwards, she confronts Akito as he is tormenting both the teacher and nurse in the room, ending the episode in a standoff.

- Mamo's appearance is an Easter egg, as he is a member of the real-life band Tokio, who perform the original opening to the show 7 O'Clock News, as mentioned in the episode.
- Numerous characters appear but are unnamed in the episode, including Tsuyoshi Ohki, Aya Sugita, and Onda, who is simply referred to as 'the editor'.
- Hayama's voice seems significantly different in this episode from how it sounds in later ones, though he only has a few lines.

- In the manga, Sana doesn't oversleep, instead waking up after a nightmare (caused by Akito and the problems at school).
- In the manga after arriving and school and seeing the trouble the students are causing, Sana ditches school and goes to a cafe, meanwhile in the anime she stays for the rest of the day.
- In the manga, Sana talks about Akito during a televised interview, meanwhile in the anime it's during Child's Toy.
